This to all scouts and adults, "Subject Friendship Indiana Campout"

Coming September 10-12 of this year, we will be going to the NMLRA Fall Shoot competition at NMLRA headquarters in Friendship, Indiana. This has been a fun and educational event for the boys as well as the adults who chaperone. I need for all scouts and adults to sign up on our next scheduled meeting. In the past the boys enjoyed this campout.

Since we have only one chance to meet before we go, we will meet on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in parallel with the PLC to organize patrols, plan menues, and finalize plans. We will meet at the scout house at 7:00 PM Thursday evening to pack the troop equipment so that when we gather on Friday at 5:00 PM we can make a quick departure and arrive with a little daylight left to set up camp.

I have a reservations made for this campout with the NMLRA. It is free for all boy scouts, leaders and adults of the troop. One thing to remember is: Scouts and Adults must wear their class A or B uniforms at all times to gain entrance through the gates. It is our ticket, or you can buy a weekend pass if not the uniform. So the cheapest thing to do is wear your class A or B.

Due to the inappropriate actions of some scouts in the past (not our scouts) the NMLRA has asked that all scouts be acompanied by adults while on NMLRA property. To comply with this request, we will need several more adults to go on this trip. We currently have 16 scouts and 4 adults signed up to go. Friendship is 100 miles from Beavercreek (a two hour trip), and we also need a couple more drivers. If you are willing to help contact Michelle Vincent at 429-6858. We need to know who is going by Tuesday evening so that we can complete the Tour Permit.

We will split scouts who are signed up into patrols on Tuesday evening so they will be able to plan their menues and tenting arrangements. Each attendee should eat dinner before departure on Friday at 5:00 PM. Each patrol will be responsible for their meals and evening cracker-barrel snacks. The meals needed are for Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast, also bedtime chuck wagon snacks. Saturday lunch will be on the local economy from the many vendors around (approximately $5 to $10). Scouts will need money (approximately $5) for Sunday's lunch on our way back to Beavercreek.

Adults who join us; I need enough adults to chaperone our scouts in a few ways. One we need drivers to and from Freindship. Adult drivers must be over twenty-one, have a valid driver license, as well as proper auto insurance. If insurance is a problem I can help you with that. Also, we need an adult help carry our camping gear. So if you have a truck or trailer to accommodate please free free to let me know. I have a 4 x 8 trailer to help haul most of the gear and found it was not enough last year. But thanks to Fred and Mac we barely made it.

We still need an adult to plan and cook meals for the adult patrol. Most of us are willing to help with the cooking, as we done in the past. Contact Jim Caprul, 429-9968 or Michelle Vincent, 429-6858 if you are willing to take charge of the adult food.

Cost will be $10 per attendee to help with the gas to and from friendship. If you wish to purchase a 2010 Friendship patch it costs an additional $2.50. Monies to be paid to our treasurer Carl Herting. As usual, patrol food costs will be handled by the patrols.

Please contact me with your questions and concerns.
